The world we inhabit is trembling with change. Old certainties dissolve, new structures are half-formed, and many of us find ourselves standing in the in-between — caught between what is no longer and what is not yet.
This is not a failure of our times. It is their essence.
I have spent my life listening to this turbulence, tracing its patterns, and walking with those who are called to live and act inside it.
I am Dr Milena Stateva — sociologist, organisational consultant, process facilitator of uncertain spaces.
For over 25 years, my work has taken me across human rights, education, security, policy, climate, and social transformation. As a Senior Researcher/Consultant at the Tavistock Institute, I carried forward one of the rare traditions that dares to face the unconscious forces shaping our organisations and societies. At the age of about 35, I found myself working alongside people twice my age, in dialogue with decades of collective practice — and discovering how much I already carried within me from my experience within the Bulgarian object relations community.
That is why I work with:
- Individuals as change makers, searching for resilience and renewal.
- Teams and organisations as a defence against anxiety, moving through change and conflict.
- Policy makers as containers in turbulent times, seeking clarity in tangled realities.
- Networks and alliances as a galvanising grid, where collaboration across borders becomes survival.
Some of this unfolds through Orion Grid — a constellation of research, practice, and activism. Some through orion Grid’s Villa Eighta — a reflective sanctuary for groups to meet, dream, and learn from experience.
The last few years my clients have formed a glorious constellation: Amnesty International, Poynter Institute for Media Studies (USA), Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women (IO), FairWork (Netherlands), CCEM (France), Voice of Domestic Workers (UK), SEEAC (UK), SDRC (Vietnam), Batis (the Philippines), Ople (the Philippines), Council of Women Refugees (Bulgaria), CARITAS (IO), PULSE Foundation (Bulgaria), Centre for the Study of Democracy (Bulgaria), Animus Association (Bulgaria), the Society for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (Bulgaria), Colibri Publishing House (Bulgaria), Union of Architects in Bulgaria, CESIS (Portugal), Defence for Children International (Italy), Friends of the Earth (IO), Dignita Foundation (Bulgaria), Bulgarian Foundation for Human Rights in Business, Woman Up Foundation and others. You can be one of them.
At heart, my work is simple: to hold space in the storm. To help uncertainty become not paralysis, but possibility. To show that even in fractured times, we can cultivate imagination, clarity, and transformation.
